Now is the time to act! 

Pacific Ocean inhabitants call on the Global Plastics Treaty for justice for the islands.
Pacific Islanders contribute less than 1.3% of global plastic pollution. Yet by 2030, up to 53 million tonnes of plastic will enter Pacific waters, threatening the health, livelihoods, and well-being of over 2.3 million Pacific Islanders.
In response, over 30 Pacific leaders signed the Rapa Nui Pacific Summit Leaders' Declaration in April 2024, followed by actions agreed at INC 4 in Ottawa, Canada.
One key action was forming Pacific Island working groups led by the Rapa Nui Municipality and Galapagos National Park Directorate, supported by the Pacific Plastics: Science to Solutions network (co-led by Galapagos Conservation Trust and University of Exeter), alongside committed organisations and individuals.
